ABOUT OPTIO
About Optio
Better hiring conversations for skills-short markets.
Optio exists to help employers and candidates have better hiring conversations in skills-short markets.
Why we built Optio
In skills-short sectors — facilities management, engineering, field service, technical support, operations, skilled trades — the existing recruitment infrastructure is increasingly inadequate.
Job boards reach a shrinking proportion of the relevant talent. Agency fees are high and relationships are transactional. Candidate data is shallow — focused on what people have done, not what they want. Employer offer intelligence is almost entirely absent from the recruitment process.
The result is a market that generates a huge amount of activity — adverts, applications, interviews — but relatively poor outcomes. Employers fill roles with candidates who are not quite right. Candidates take jobs that are not quite what they wanted. The process starts again within months.
Optio is built to address the root cause of this problem, not just the symptoms.
The problem we saw
In skills-short markets, the strongest candidates are often already employed, selective, and invisible to reactive recruitment.
Job boards miss passive talent
Most good candidates are not refreshing job boards every day. They may be open to the right move, but only if the opportunity is genuinely worth it.
Candidate intent is invisible
Traditional recruitment data shows what people have done, but rarely what they want next — pay, training, travel, progression, culture, or timing.
Employers make decisions too late
Hiring usually starts when the vacancy appears. By then, employers are under pressure, the pool is cold, and compromise becomes more likely.
What Optio is
Optio is a talent intelligence and labour-market strategy platform. It is not a recruitment agency and it does not operate a job board.
For employers
Optio helps employers understand candidate reality, candidate intent, employer demand, and employer offer data before recruitment becomes urgent.
For candidates
Optio helps candidates define what a worthwhile move would look like, stay in control, and be matched only when an opportunity aligns with their priorities.
By combining these two data sets with a structured, explainable matching system, Optio creates the conditions for better hiring conversations and better hiring decisions.
What makes Optio different
Optio is built around the time before a vacancy becomes urgent — when good candidates are employed, not actively looking, and would only consider a move for the right reasons.
Structured data over vague profiles
Every candidate and employer input is structured, queryable, and comparable.
Intent over availability
Understanding what people want matters as much as understanding what they have done.
Explainability over black-box matching
Every match comes with a reason. Every gap is identified. Every conversation starts from a better-informed position.
Strategy over urgency
The most effective talent decisions are made before hiring becomes urgent — not in response to an empty seat.
